Day 21: Dare to Love Well

A primary biblical component to living well is loving well. According to Jesus, the two most important things in life are to love  him with all our heart, soul and strength and to love others. Our life mission statement is biblical correct but can be personally challenging. Its often simply stated but not simply lived. Loving others is not as lovely as it sounds.

Loving other people involves other people…and there in lies the problem. We cannot control people…their moods, attitudes, reactions and decisions. People hurt us and we hurt them. The cycle repeats and we get defeated. Some of this hurt is what keeps our hearts divided, closed off and fragmented. Hurt can be the culprit of hearts that are no longer centered on Gods love but rather focused on self preservation. There is a better way to live. Start today by looking up and praising God aloud!

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Love your neighbor and hate your enemy is often said. But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven!

Jesus is asking us to live in his love and love with his love. Love is who God is. It is the description of what he stands for. He was strong, yet gentle, firm , yet loving-grace and truth- and an example of how to live. He shook people up. His style was not that of the natural man. He taught responsibility for your own self, your own heart and your own actions. He gave no outs or excuses when it comes to the people who wrong us. He taught us to love because God himself created all and recreated us in Christ Jesus, that we can live a new and different life in him!

Today’s Dare Ask God to show you the areas that need healing in your relationships. Recognize the reasons people usually love less and choose not to make their personal issues yours. Get real with the reasons you have been loving less. Take personal responsibility. Pray for a person today who comes to mind who has hurt you!

Prayer: Lord I want to come into agreement with the truth. I desire to be pure in heart and I want to learn to live according to the Jesus style of living. Teach me how to love and show me when I am loving less than your best for me. I want to learn your ways!

Walk in the love of the Father today!
