Gen 9:1-3 1 So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. Similar to what God told Adam and Eve in Genesis 1.
Did you notice this time God is only speaking to the men…Perhaps it had something to do with Eve’s punishment for her disobedience to God (Gen 3:16) “And he shall rule over you.” Man was now ruler or head of the relationship
Also man’s eating habits changed. In Genesis 1 God did not command man to eat the animals.. Remember Gen 1:29-30 29 And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. 30 “Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so.
Even the animals were commanded to eat herbs, fruit etc.
But after sin…it all changed In Genesis 9: 3 God says “Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. Wow gives you a thought about what food we as humans should put in our temples…doesn’t it?
However there was a provision in Chapter 4: “But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.
“Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed for in the image of God has God made mankind.
God Wanted Noah and others, including us to acknowledge that there is life in the blood.
John 6:53-58 53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. 54 “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 “For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. 56 “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. This is our monthly communion
Jesus was reminding them that there is life in the Blood, but not just ordinary life, but eternal life.
Think on this: From the beginning God was showing that the shedding of blood was atonement for sin. Remember when Adam and Eve sinned? God sacrificed an animals life to cover their nakedness. Cains offering was rejected because it was not a blood offering…he offered the first of his fruits
We could go on and on, but what it comes down to is; Are you cleansed by the blood of the Lamb?
Have you excepted Jesus’ sacrifice and shedding of His blood for your salvation?
Are you serious about God…or are you playing church?
Interesting thoughts isn’t it?
